Give me more storage.

Given today’s data explosion, there is an increasing need for cost-effective storage solutions.

NEC has recently added 2 mid-range and low-end disk arrays to its S class solutions–the S2500 disk array (with a maximum capacity of 32.7 terabytes) and the S1500 (with a maximum capacity of 17.6 TB).

Besides making it more manageable for enterprises that need high performance and uptime, the new models also reduce the cost of disk-to-disk copying in conventional backup situations.

There is also a security function. NEC’s Storage VolumeProject, supported in both models, restricts read and write access and sets protection periods for each volume. This guards against unauthorised access and overwriting, so there is little chance for falsification of stored data.

Both models also support high-volume low-cost serial-ATA disks within the same unit at the same time, for low-cost multi-generation backups.
